The original law library at Georgia State University had everything students needed—but it wasn't a place students wanted to be. Long, narrow aisles and limited natural light made the space feel closed off and difficult to navigate.
To change that, the university rethought how storage fit into the space. High-density shelving systems reduced the library's storage footprint while maintaining access to more than six miles of material across two floors.
By consolidating the stacks, the design opened up room along the perimeter for seating, study areas, and collaboration. Today, the space draws students, faculty, and the broader community.
