With more than 1,200 works, the Clark Atlanta University Art Museum holds a rich collection of African American and traditional African art. While many pieces are displayed in the museum's 2,500-square-foot gallery, others were stored out of sight on basement racks, limiting access and visibility.
To make more of the collection accessible, the museum partnered with Patterson Pope to expand storage and reimagine an underused space. Additional art racks created room to properly store and display more works, while a new object study classroom gives students and visitors the opportunity to engage with pieces up close—bringing art out of storage and into the learning experience.
